IMPORTANT PUBLICATION NEWS

19 October 2009 - We are very pleased to announce a further update regarding the publication of papers accepted for the Berkeley ISTTT:

The editors of Transportation Research, Parts A-F, have agreed to publish papers accepted for this symposium. Thus, all symposium papers will be published in the Transportation Research series (unless an author opts out, of course).

This is in addition to the publication outlet announced in the previous update:

All symposium papers will be published - both in a book version of the proceedings and online - by Elsevier. The online version will appear in "Procedia - Social and Behavioral Sciences," which is part of the Scopus database of citations and abstracts.

Please contact us if you have questions about this new publication information.

WELCOME

The 19th International Symposium on Transportation and Traffic Theory (ISTTT) will be held at the University of California, Berkeley from July 18 to July 20, 2011.

The ISTTT series is the premier gathering for the world's leading transportation and traffic theorists, and for those who are interested in contributing to or gaining a deeper understanding of the field.

The symposium covers both scientific and operational aspects of transportation and traffic, spanning all modes of transport, including freight as well as private and public transport.

Topics

The symposium covers many aspects of transportation and traffic science. Sample topics welcomed by the symposium include but are not limited to:

• Traffic flow theories and their implications
• Traffic management and control
• Dynamics of transport phenomena, especially when coupled with observation
• Intelligent transport systems
• Travel behavior processes and demand modeling
• Vehicular interactions in mixed-mode traffic
• Congestion pricing and other policies
• Scheduled modes (public transport, air networks): system planning, service design and operations
• Pedestrian and crowd modeling
• Transport safety
• Network model formulations
• Routing and scheduling in transportation systems
• Freight transport modeling, logistics, and supply chains
• Terminal design and operation
Paper Submission

As in past symposia, paper review will be a two-stage process. An extended abstract (1000 words) should be submitted electronically to the organizers at secretary@isttt19.org after August 30 2009 and no later than January 30, 2010 for the first-round review. Only PDF format will be accepted.

The official language for the ISTTT is English.

Update

We are pleased to have received well over 500 abstracts from around the world. The review of these abstracts is now complete. Those authors who have been invited to submit full papers for the second-stage review have until 15 August 2010 to do so (see below). Further information on this submission process will be fothcoming.

Deadlines

30 January 2010: Submission of extended abstract (1000 words) - COMPLETED
15 March 2010: Notification of acceptance or rejection of abstract - COMPLETED
15 August 2010: Submission of full paper for peer review
30 November 2010: Notification of acceptance or rejection of full paper

The Call for Papers is open from 30 August 2009 to 30 January 2010. Authors will be notified of acceptance of abstract by 15 March 2010.

If the abstract is accepted, a full-length manuscript will need to be submitted by 15 August 2010 for final evaluation. The evaluation will be undertaken by referees drawn from the International Advisory Committee of the ISTTT and other prominent researchers from around the world.

Authors will be notified of full-paper acceptance by 30 November 2010.

Authors of accepted papers will be asked to produce a final manuscript by 30 January 2011 for publication in the proceedings. Specific formatting information will be provided. Following the tradition of previous symposia, one presenter per paper will be eligible for significant travel assistance.
